Peruvian athlete Gladys Tejeda completed Rio 2016 Women’s Marathon (42km) rated among the World’s top 15 female runners.

From a total of 154 participants, the national sportswoman clocked a time of 2:29:55. Jemima Sumgong (Kenya), Eunice Kirwa (Bahrain) and Mare Dibaba (Ethiopia) took medals. In a tight competition, the 30-year-old maintained a steady position and thus became Latin America's best.

It should be noted the national star held the 42nd position at London 2012.

It must be noted Peruvian Jovana de La Cruz (2:35:49) became Latin America's second best runner having reached 36th position on the occasion.
